Mother and daughter killed in car crash

IPOH: A mother and her nine-year-old daughter tragically lost their lives in an accident on Jalan Kuala Kangsar-Manong, while another one of her children suffered severe head injuries.

The injured 10-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The deceased were identified as Sakinah Kamarudin, 37, who was driving the car, and her daughter Aisyah Qaisara Khairul Rahmat, a pupil at SK Lempor.

Kuala Kangsar OCPD Asst Comm Heisham Harun said the incident occurred at KM12.5 near Ulu Kenas at about 7.40am yesterday.

He stated that initial police investigations revealed that Sakinah was en route to drop her children off at school when she lost control of the vehicle while navigating a bend.

“The vehicle spun out of control and entered the opposite lane.

“At that moment, the driver of a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) from the opposite lane was unable to avoid Sakinah’s car, resulting in a collision with the left side of the vehicle,” ACP Heisham said.

Due to the impact of the collision, both the driver and front passenger were pinned to their seats and had to be extricated by firefighters. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.
