Three injured after vehicle skids and overturns in Keningau district in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Three people were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in skidded and overturned along the Kimanis road off Keningau district, Friday.

Two of them - a man identified as Wong Tet Loi @ Wong Su Loi, 71, and a woman whose identity has yet to be ascertained, were seriously hurt while a seven-year-old boy sustained minor injuries.

The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said that the accident near the Keningau Mushroom Centre happened at around 2pm, while they received a distress call at around 2.08pm.

Firemen arrived at the scene at around 2.32pm, while the three victims were assisted out of the overturned vehicle.

Medical officials provided preliminary medical attention to the injured victims before they were sent to the hospital for further treatment.

Due to the mishap, fuel from the car leaked onto the road so firemen had to use foam to clean up the area for the safety of other road users.

Operations on site ceased at 3.41pm after all hazardous elements were eliminated.
