Woman’s body found floating in drain in Shah Alam


PETALING JAYA: A woman's body was found floating in a large drain near the Dillenia housing area in Seksyen U11, Bukit Bandaraya, here on Friday.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said police received information from the public about the incident at 6.30pm on Friday (Aug 16).

Based on preliminary investigation, he said the deceased has been identified as a woman, but her identity has yet to be ascertained.

"When the deceased was found, she was only wearing a shirt and underwear while the body was covered with worms.

"An examination by the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters on the body of the deceased found no signs of struggle or other injuries that may have caused her death," he said in a statement on Friday.

Mohd Iqbal further said that the body was sent to the Shah Alam Hospital for a post-mortem to identify the cause of death.

“The investigation is classified under the sudden death report,” he added.

He also urged anyone with information on the incident to contact investigating officer, Inspector Izzman Mohd Idrus at 013-4003355.
