MELAKA: Melaka will initiate discussions with Negri Sembilan and Johor next month to advance the Southern Gateway Economic Corridor, announced Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
He said discussions would be conducted through the three states’ economic planning units, given the significant potential and indicators for local economic development.
“We will explore various ideas for our future economic development, particularly in the sectors of eco-tourism and industry, ensuring that each product developed will complement the economic ecosystem in these border regions,” he said.
The Chief Minister said this after appearing as a guest on the talk show Dak Rauf Masuk Konti at MelakaFM yesterday.
Ab Rauf also announced that Melaka-born residents will have the opportunity to visit a selected tourist destination for free starting Aug 24.
This initiative is a gift from the state government in celebration of Melaka’s Yang di-Pertua, Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam’s birthday.
He highlighted that to avoid overcrowding at popular tourist attractions, the offer will be extended until Dec 31.
