Motorcyclist killed on-the-spot in Keningau

KOTA KINABALU: A man was killed instantly after losing control of his motorcycle and colliding with the rear of a four-wheel-drive vehicle along the Keningau-Apin-Apin Road on Friday morning.

Keningau district police chief Supt Yampil Garai said the victim, identified as 23-year-old shop assistant Allbrayon Sariman, was travelling behind the other vehicle when the accident occurred at around 8am.

“Initial investigations revealed that both vehicles were heading from Apin-Apin towards Keningau town when the car driver began turning into a junction. The motorcyclist, however, failed to avoid the vehicle and crashed into its rear.

“The impact threw the motorcyclist onto the opposite lane, causing fatal head injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said.

Yampil said the car driver escaped unhurt.

The victim's body was taken to Keningau Hospital for a post-mortem. The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
