GUA MUSANG: In a remarkable display of determination, a stage five chronic kidney disease patient has exercised his right to vote in the Nenggiri by-election by being transported to the polling centre on a hospital bed.

According to Sinar Harian, Aziz Mat Isa, 63, arrived at the SK Jeram Tekoh polling centre at 9am with assistance from Kota Raja Care Ambulance, a non-governmental organisation.

Despite having been bedridden for the past eight months, Aziz’s resolve to vote never wavered as he requested to be taken to the polling centre so he could cast his ballot.

Aziz’s 29-year-old son, who declined to be named, said: “My father has been suffering from kidney disease for a long time.

“He has never missed voting in any election, but this is the first time he is voting while lying on a hospital bed since he can no longer stand or walk.”

After casting his vote, Aziz was taken home by the ambulance.

Kota Raja Care Ambulance officer Mohd Hambali Azraee said they helped in the voting process for chronic patients in the Nenggiri area to ensure they could fulfil their civic duty.
