Body of missing 10-year-old found in Perak swamp


SUNGAI SIPUT: The body of a 10-year-old girl who went missing on Friday (Aug 16) was found in a swamp in Kampung Bersah, Pos Kuala Mu here.

Sungai Siput OCPD Supt Mohd Khaizam Ahmad Shahabudin said the body was found during a search and rescue operation on Saturday (Aug 17) at about 4.20pm.

Supt Mohd Khaizam said prior to her disappearance, the victim was last seen playing in the village in the afternoon on Friday.

"We found no serious injuries on her body. The post mortem conducted at the Sungai Siput Hospital confirmed that there was no foul play involved," he said when contacted.

"The case, which was initially classified under missing persons report, will be reclassified as sudden death," he added.

Supt Mohd Khaizam then said that the girl has been identified as 10-year-old Nuraina Humaira Rosli and added that she is a Year Four pupil at SK Pos Kuala Mu.

He added that those who took part in the search and rescue operation included the police canine unit and several other agencies.
