Man killed in mass fight between Myanmar and Nepali workers in Kerian

IPOH: A Nepali has been killed in a fight between two groups of foreign workers in Kuala Kurau, Kerian.

Kerian OCPD Superintendent Juna Yusoff said the victim, 28, died after he was stabbed during the fight at 12.35am on Sunday (Aug 18).

"Police received a call about a fight involving foreigners at a workers' hostel in Kuala Kurau.

"The fight had stopped when policemen arrived at the location and found the body of the victim," he said in a statement on Sunday, adding that the two groups were from Myanmar and Nepal.

He added that both groups work at the same factory and the fight broke out because of some workers were making too much noise.

Supt Juna said 21 people involved in the fight have been arrested.

He added that a 38-year-old Myanmar national, identified as Tun Tun Naing (pic), went missing after the fight.

Police are seeking assistance from the public for any information about the Myanmar national and to contact district criminal investigation division chief Asst Supt Ambri Mat Nayan at 011-1309 2525 or investigating officer Insp Fernandes Bayoi at 019-867 3515 or the district police at 05-721 5222.
