PETALING JAYA: Pahang PKR has condemned the "disrespectful" statement made by Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin during the Nenggiri by-election campaign.
"Muhyiddin openly undermined and questioned the Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah when he was the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong and chose Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the 10th Prime Minister," Pahang PKR chief Fuziah Salleh said in a statement Monday (Aug 19).

She said Muhyiddin's action of dragging the royal institution into the nation's politics was disrespectful and seen as a desperate attempt to fish for votes and confuse the people.
"This indirectly disparages and questions the powers of the royal institution which has stood strong (all this while).
"Muhyiddin has deliberately created a non-harmonious situation, touching on 3R (religion, race and royalty) issues.
"As a person who has pledged his allegiance to the Constitution and Rukun Negara, he should not question this.
"We, the people of Pahang, are urging the police to take stern and immediate action on Muhyiddin as a lesson to all and prevent a repeat of such statements," she said.
