IPOH: A total of 150 motorcyclists were made to push their bikes for about 100m after being stopped by the police during an operation in Teluk Intan.
Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said they were stopped during the operation at KM43 of Jalan Teluk Intan-Sitiawan and were instructed to push their motorcycles to a petrol station.
He said the vehicles were picked up by police trucks and later sent to the district police headquarters yesterday.
ACP Ahmad Adnan said 211 people, aged between 13 and 38, were checked during the operation that started from 11pm on Saturday to 8.30am yesterday.
“Among them, eight were secondary school students and 10 from higher learning institutions.
“We also arrested six youths aged 18 to 21 under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving while about 300 summonses were issued,” he said in a statement.
ACP Ahmad Adnan said they also inspected 150 motorcycles and 21 cars during the operation, which involved the state Environment Department.
“We seized 42 motorcycles under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act.
“The Environment Department issued 15 compound notices for noise-related offences,” he added.
ACP Ahmad Adnan said the police would continue to enforce the law against motorcyclists who commit offences.
