Bersatu Youth lodges police report against news portal over Muhyiddin's speech


KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu Youth has lodged a police report claiming that a news portal edited and misrepresented a speech made by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin while campaigning during the Nenggiri state by-election, says Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.

The Bersatu Youth chief said the edited video of the speech made by the Perikatan Nasional chairman caused public unrest and defamed the former prime minister.

"The edited content shared on social media was manipulated to create conflict between Perikatan leaders and the Malay royal institution," he said after lodging the report at the Dang Wangi police station.

This comes as the Pahang police have received almost 30 reports lodged against Muhyiddin who allegedly touched on 3R (race, religion, royalty) topics while campaigning for the Nenggiri state by-election.

Yesterday, Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah expressed his anger and disappointment, and called for police to take firm action against Muhyiddin

In response, Muhyiddin defended his statements as factual and said it is not intended to insult the monarchy and does not contain seditious elements.
