Muhyiddin: My speech was factual in nature

PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pic) has pledged to fully cooperate with the police investigation into his Nenggiri by-election campaign speech, which allegedly touched on 3R (race, religion and royalty) issues.

He said his speech made during the by-election was factual in nature and not intended to insult the royal institution.

In a Facebook post, Muhyiddin said he believed that his speech did not violate any of the country’s laws and was not meant to incite the people.

“I will give my fullest cooperation to the police to clarify the facts related to my speech,” he wrote yesterday.

His statement came following his speech he made while campaigning at Felda Perasu on Aug 15.

A total of 29 police reports have been lodged so far against Muhyiddin, alleging that he touched on 3R issues when campaigning for the by-election.

His speech was condemned by many, including Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, who wants the police to take stern action against Muhyiddin.

Muhyiddin is scheduled to give his testimony to the police today.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said Muhyiddin would be called up to provide a statement to facilitate investigations.
