Muhyiddin never had the support to be PM after GE15, claims Salleh Said

KOTA KINABALU: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin never had sufficient support to be the prime minister after the 15th General Election in 2022, claims Sabah Umno leader Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak.

"I am certain that Muhyiddin will not reveal the names of all 115 MPs as Puad (Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi) demanded. The reason is simple – he never had such support and is merely speculating," said the Usukan assemblyman in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Aug 20).

Muhyiddin, who is also Perikatan Nasional chairman, had claimed that 115 MPs supported his bid to become prime minister.

However, he was criticised for questioning the role of Pahang's Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah in the matter when he was the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

"If he reveals the list and some MPs do not confirm it, Muhyiddin's credibility would be seriously undermined," said the former communications and multimedia minister, adding that his role as Perikatan chairman could also be challenged.
