KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has handed over documents to police in connection with investigations into the 3R issue (race, religion, royalty) case.
In a prepared statement on Wednesday (Aug 21), the former prime minister reiterated that he had no intention of insulting the royal institutions and that his speech while campaigning in the Nenggiri state by-election was merely based on facts.
“However some parties have spun my speech including editing a video of it with the intention to insinuate that I was insulting the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and to incite the people to hate the royals.

“In my statement to the police, I explained that those claims were untrue and that they were malicious. I had only stated the facts regarding the 115 statutory declarations by MPs who had their confidence in me to be the Prime Minister after the 15th general election.
“Not a single word in my speech insinuated any insults to the royals or criticise the decision made by Yang di-Pertuan Agong at that time,” he said.
He added since the election he had never urged the people to hate or insult the royal institution.

“Moreover on Nov 24, 2022, I had sent my congratulations to the 10th Prime Minister. What was stated in my speech is only facts that are part of history,” he said.
On the documents handed over to the police he said that include the 114 statutory declarations that had been handed over to Istana Negara on Nov 21 2022, an additional statutory declaration that was handed over the day after and a letter of acceptance of said documents by the King’s senior private secretary, Colonel (retired) Datuk Nazim Mohd Alim.
Muhyiddin was seen leaving the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) building at 1pm. He did not speak to the media.
