Myanmar woman stabbed to death by own son in Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM: A Myanmar woman has been found dead, allegedly stabbed to death by her eldest son in her house here.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said that the 40-year-old woman was found dead in her house in Seksyen 25 on Tuesday (Aug 20) by her youngest child, who had just returned from school.

Investigations showed that the victim had gotten into a scuffle with the suspect before she was stabbed multiple times.

He added that the police gathered statements from eight witnesses, adding that the victim's husband was at work at the time of the attack.

ACP Mohd Iqbal said a 20-year-old Myanmar man was arrested not far from the house at around 7.30pm the same day.

He said the suspect was the victim's eldest son and checks confirmed that he had no prior criminal record or any history of mental illness.

"We also found the weapon believed to have been used in the murder

"The suspect was unhappy because of the constant scolding he received due to monetary issues," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 21).

The suspect has been remanded for seven days and the case has been classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
