PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional members of the Pahang State Assembly support the call for a fair investigation into the speech by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, which allegedly touched on 3R issues, says Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
The Pahang opposition chief added the members of the State Assembly express “unwavering support” for the state’s Ruler Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and the royal family in carrying out His Majesty’s duties.
“Perikatan assemblymen in Pahang fully support the decree of Tengku Mahkota Pahang for a fair investigation to be conducted into Muhyiddin’s speech while campaigning in Nenggiri.
“We put full confidence in the police to carry out their duties and there is no need for any party to create polemics but to comply with His Highness’ decree,” Tuan Ibrahim said in a statement.
Muhyiddin’s speech, which has gone viral, allegedly touched on the sovereignty of Sultan of Pahang during his time as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Meanwhile, Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal had lodged a police report claiming that a news portal edited and misrepresented the speech made by Muhyiddin while campaigning.
Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said the edited video of the speech made of the Perikatan chairman caused public unrest and defamed the former prime minister.
“The edited content shared on social media was manipulated to create conflict between Perikatan leaders and the Malay royal institution,” he said after lodging the report at the Dang Wangi police station.
This comes as the Pahang police have received almost 30 reports lodged against Muhyiddin who allegedly touched on 3R issues – race, religion and royalty – while campaigning for the Nenggiri state by-election.
Muhyiddin had defended his statements as factual and said it was not intended to insult the monarchy and did not contain seditious elements.
