Two boys trapped in lift for nine hours

PETALING JAYA: Two boys aged 10 and 11, who were thought to be missing, were actually trapped in a lift for nine hours on Monday.

According to the 10-year-old’s aunt, he left his home at the Desa Petaling Flats to buy buns and meet his friend living in the nearby Pangsaria Apartments.

“I was told that the boy left at about 2pm but did not return home by 10pm. The family searched nearby and everyone was worried,” said the woman, who only wished to be known as Ina.

She said both boys were finally found at about 1am yesterday.

“I was told that they were trapped in the lift. The doors of the lift finally opened by themselves and the boys got out in a state of exhaustion and hunger,” she added.

Meanwhile, Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Ravindar Singh Sarban Singh said the children are believed to have been trapped for about nine hours in the lift.

He added that the police received two reports.
