Ex-aide to MP charged with sexually assaulting student in Batu Pahat pool


PETALING JAYA: A former aide to an MP has been charged at the Muar Sessions Court with physical sexual assault of a female student at a Batu Pahat swimming pool last month.

The accused, Zainoor Juma'at, 45, who is also the chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association of a school in Rengit, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read out before Sessions Court Judge Sayani Mohd Nor on Thursday (Aug 22), Malay language daily Berita Harian reported.

He was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for a sentence of up to 20 years’ jail and whipping, if convicted, Berita Harian reported.

Judge Sayani granted Zainoor bail of RM8,000.
