Siblings put parents above own dreams

FOUR siblings in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu, have willingly sacrificed their chance to find their own happiness to care for their sick parents, reported Kosmo!.The oldest of the siblings, Rosmawati Ngah, 42, said they now spend their days looking after their parents who are suffering from debilitating conditions.

Their father Ngah Embong, 70, has been suffering from chronic kidney disease and gout for the past 20 years while their mother Fatimah Chik, 66, became bedridden after fracturing her spine due to a fall last year.

Rosmawati and her siblings Muhammad Adam, 32, Muhamad Rosli, 35, and Rozila, 38, spend their days either working or attending to their parents’ needs.

“Our responsibility increased when our mother got injured over a year ago.

“This has been our routine for almost a decade now. We have no time to think about marriage for now,” Rosmawati said when met at the family home in Kampung Baru Tepoh.

> Director Datuk Yusof Haslam has dismissed talk of him being happy after recent news of his estranged son Syamsul Yusof’s failed marriage to actress Ira Kazar, reported Berita Harian.

Speaking to the media in Hulu Kelang, Selangor, Yusof said the news did not bring any joy to him or the rest of the family.

“Even if he is not part of the family, as a parent, I will always pray for the best future (for Syamsul).

“None of us in the family have been in touch with Syamsul for a long time,” he said.

It was reported that Syamsul had filed for divorce from Ira, stating that they could no longer see eye to eye.

Syamsul and Ira, who is the daughter of veteran actor Kazar Saisi, had gotten married in Thailand on Jan 6 last year without the knowledge of Syamsul’s wife at the time, Puteri Sarah.

The sudden announcement created a rift between Syamsul and his family, with Yusof having expressed his disappointment with his son for not informing them over his decision to wed Ira.
