HONG KONG former actress Maggie Cheung had an emotional encounter with a shop assistant, who happened to be a fan, in London recently.
Sin Chew Daily reported that the employee named Sandro had served the 59-year-old when she visited the outlet to return clothes and buy new ones.
“She asked me if she looked good in the coat. She had no airs and was so friendly,” Sandro related on her Xiaohongshu social media account.
Sandro said when Cheung was leaving, she teared up and hugged Cheung while telling the star to take good care of herself.
“She said she was very touched. She told me not to cry as it made her cry too. She then promised to come again,” Sandro wrote.
Cheung was one of the biggest Hong Kong stars in the 1980s and 1990s. She retired from acting in 2013 and has since kept a low profile, living mainly in Europe.
> Taiwanese supermodel- turned-entrepreneur Janet Chia revealed her family’s pride after she was appointed as the chairman of Taipei 101, Nanyang Siang Pau reported.
The 50-year-old said she had taken only three days to decide on the job and was now preparing to start her new post on Sept 3.
“My husband is supportive of my decision and more confident than I am that I can handle the job well. He has been calling me Chairman Chia every day and it’s quite annoying,” she joked.
She added that she had not really spoken to her three children about the new assignment atop the tallest building in Taiwan.
“I think they will be very happy for me. My daughter has told me that she will bring her friends to Taipei 101 first thing when they visit Taiwan,” she said.
Chia has said on her Instagram account that she “is preparing to take on new challenges in the second half of my life”.
Chia’s stature has grown over the years, notably through her donation of respiratory equipment to frontline medical staff during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Cabinet approved her appointment, noting that she is qualified for the job due to her diverse professional portfolio in fashion, marketing and business management.
