Fishermen save whale shark in Kuala Terengganu


KUALA TERENGGANU: Fishermen here put the safety of a whale shark first, freeing it even though it meant losing their catch for the day.

The fishermen did not worry about their lost fish and worked to make sure the whale shark was safe.

Their actions were caught on video and shared on TikTok by user @qasih2022.

One of the videos has gone viral, getting more than 1.2 million views and 18,000 likes by now.

The first video shows the night sea, and several fishermen on two boats are seen working with nets full of fish.

The whale shark stood out because it was much bigger than any other fish caught that night and struggled to get free from the net despite being larger than either of the two boats.

In a second video, at least three fishermen are seen getting into the water to help the fish get out of the net.

After some hard work, the fishermen managed to pull the net from under the whale shark, setting it free.

People watching the videos have praised the fishermen for their kind deed.
