Gelang Patah kindergarten gets into record books for Jalur Gemilang tyre replica

ISKANDAR PUTERI: A Gelang Patah kindergarten has made its mark in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBoR) for the second time by creating the largest replica of the Jalur Gemilang using painted, used motorcycle tyres.

Mega Genius Kindergarten headmistress R. Mohanambal said that the kindergarten first received this award last year when they created a similar replica using painted egg trays.

“We aim to organise something different each year during Merdeka month for our children, while also instilling in them a sense of pride and patriotism as Malaysians.

“This year, we decided to create the Jalur Gemilang by reusing 560 unwanted motorcycle tyres; last year, we used 2,128 egg trays. This is one of the ways we teach our children how unwanted items can be repurposed and recycled,” she said.

Mohanambal said this when met after the MBoR certificate handover ceremony at Dewan Raya Gelang Patah on Sunday (Aug 25).

She added that in 2022, the kindergarten also created a Jalur Gemilang using 2,300 coconut shells and in 2021, they used Rangoli-coloured rice.
