Ipoh road closed for repairs after land erosion incident

IPOH: Jalan Kamarudin Isa at Fair Park here will be closed to traffic to allow repair works to be conducted near the bridge following the land erosion incident there.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the closure would start at 7pm on Sunday (Aug 25) until midnight.

"The closure will only involve the stretch from the traffic light junction at Jalan Ghazali Jawi towards Jalan Raja Ashman Shah (Jalan Hospital).

"The stretch from Jalan Raja Ashman Shah to Jalan Ghazali Jawi remains open," he said in a statement.

"We advise motorists to plan their journey and use alternative routes to avoid getting caught in traffic congestion," he said, adding that complaints have been received from the public over the erosion incident.

It was reported that cracks and potholes have appeared in a section of Jalan Kamarudin Isa due to the erosion at an embankment nearby, causing concerns among the people.

Ipoh mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin had said the erosion occurred due to dredging works carried out by the contractor to the embankment for the construction works of the inlet structure at the mouth of the enclosure.

He said the construction work of the inlet structure is expected to be completed within a week.
