Pakatan open to discussing cooperation with BN in GE16, says PM

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan is open to cooperating with the Umno-led coalition in the 16th General Election, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He added that Pakatan enjoys a good working relationship with Barisan Nasional.

“Our relationship with Barisan and Umno is very good and cooperation is very satisfactory.

“In the future, we are open to discussions,” said Anwar to reporters after attending the Malaysia Mosque Conference for Al- Aqsa and Palestine (MM4AP) at the Federal Territory Mosque on Sunday (Aug 25).

On Saturday (Aug 24), Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said that it will depend on the party’s strength before it decides to go solo or form partnerships in GE16.

During the recent Umno general assembly, Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had asked party delegates whether the party should “go solo” in elections, given the current political scenario.

The five-year term of the current unity government ends in 2027.
