Two killed in car-motorcycle collision in Jertih


JERTIH: Two men died in an accident involving a car and a motorcycle on the Jertih road to Kuala Besut in Kampung Baharu, here on Sunday (Aug 25) morning.

The victim who died in the incident at 9.30am was the driver of a Perodua Viva car, Aziz Deris, 59, and Mohd Afendi Che Mat Nor, 38, who was riding a BMW S1200RT high-powered motorcycle.

Besut District Police Deputy Chief DSP Azrol Anuar Nor said preliminary investigations revealed that the accident occurred when the car driven by Aziz which was in the left lane of the road and coming from the direction of Jerteh - Kuala Besut suddenly made a U-turn with the motorcycle ridden by Mohd Alfendi behind him also from the same direction.

"It caused Mohd Alfendi to hit the car on the driver's side. Both victims were confirmed to have died at the scene due to serious head and body injuries. incident,” he said in a statement, here on Sunday.

Azrol Anuar urged anyone with information regarding the accident to contact investigating officer Inspector Sidiq Che Omar on 011-3170270 and the case was investigated being under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987. - Bernama
