Cops in Butterworth issue 313 summonses during twin operation


BUTTERWORTH: Some 313 summonses were issued during a twin operation involving the police from North Seberang Perai police headquarters.

North Seberang Perai OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Abdul Rahman said the operation also saw participation by policemen from police stations in the districts in the twin operation dubbed Ops Motosikal and Ops Samseng Jalanan.

"The operation, mainly at Butterworth Outer Ring Road in Bagan Ajam, to prevent illegal racing activity and crime prevention operation in the area," he said.

ACP Anuar said the operation was conducted from Aug 23 until 26 and the focus of the operation was on motorcyclists.

He said beside 313 summonses that were issued on various offernces, police also confiscated 36 motorcycles under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He said the motorcycles were seized on various traffic offenses involving excessive modifications without authorisation from the authorities.
