Merdeka convoy to visit Desa Keda settlements

PENDANG: The Semarak Kasih Merdeka convoy, organised to enliven the national month celebrations and ignite the patriotic spirit among residents of Desa Keda settlements, will travel to four such settlements in the state.

Kedah Regional Development Authority (Keda) general manager Ismasuhaimi Shariff said the two-day convoy featured 49 motorcycle riders from Keda Bikers along with participants from government agencies, private companies and non-governmental organisations.

“The convoy is part of our efforts to promote the National Month, strengthen ties between Keda staff and build closer relationships with Desa Keda residents.“We also aim to introduce Desa Keda to the broader community,” he told a press conference yesterday, Bernama reported.

Ismasuhaimi said there were 56 Desa Keda settlements.

“We hope the programmes and activities carried out through the convoy will instil a sense of appreciation for independence among the younger generation,” he said.

He said the convoy created an opportunity for his staff to interact directly with residents and exchange ideas that would contribute to rural development planning efforts in the state.
