Police record ex-MP statement for alleged involvement in sexual harassment case


PETALING JAYA - The police have recorded the testimony of a former Member of Parliament who was allegedly involved in a sexual harassment case against a woman at a prominent supermarket in Kota Damansara, here.

According to Sinar Harian, Petaling Jaya OCPD, Asst Comm Shahrulnizam Ja'afar in said police have recorded the statements of 13 individuals, including the suspect and the victim, to assist in the investigation.

"The case is being investigated under Section 507A/509 of the Penal Code," he said when contacted on Monday (Aug 26).

Previously, the media reported that the police were informed of a 18-second viral video regarding the allegation.

Shahrulnizam said that his party had received a report from a victim in her 20s on Aug 6 who claimed that she had been sexually harassed twice by the suspect while at the supermarket.

Based on investigations, the suspect works in a statutory body company and holds a non-executive director position.
