Six people nabbed in online gambling bust in Muar


MUAR: Police have busted an online gambling syndicate with the arrest of six people at a housing estate here.

Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said that the suspects including two women, all in their 20s were nabbed during an operation on Aug 26.

"This syndicate has been duping people after taking their money and has been operating since the middle of this year," he said in a statement.

He added that police have seized an array of items from the suspects including computers, mobile phones and bank accounts used in the illegal transaction.

He added that at least two of the suspects have prior records for gambling.

He added that investigations were being carried out under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
