Teenager charged with murder of Orang Asli girl


SUNGAI SIPUT: A teenage boy was brought before the Magistrate's Court here on Tuesday (Aug 27) on a charge of murdering an Orang Asli girl two weeks ago.

According to Sinar Harian, the 17-year-old accused nodded to indicate his understanding after the charge was read to him before Magistrate Nurul Asyifa Redzuan.

However, no plea was recorded from the accused.

According to the charge sheet, the accused is charged with causing the death of Nuraina Humaira Rosli, 10, in a swampy area of Kampung Bersah, Pos Kuala Mu near Lasah, between 2.30pm and 5pm on Aug 16.

The court then fixed Oct 28 for case mention pending chemical, pathology, student performance and DNA reports.

In the incident, the body of the Year Four pupil from SK Pos Kuala Mu was found at around 4.20pm following a search operation initiated after the victim was reported missing since Aug 16.

It was reported that the suspect was arrested on Aug 19 after a post-mortem report on the victim revealed signs of injuries caused by pressure to the neck.

The police also did not rule out the possibility that the victim was raped before being murdered.
