Three sisters bag awards in Korea

THREE sisters from Ipoh have won prestigious awards at the 9th Korea International Youth Olympiad (KIYO 4I) 2024, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The event which was held at Sejong University in Seoul earlier this month was hosted by the World Women Inventors & Entrepreneurs Association.

Sharvika Vijayaraman, 13, and her sister Deepika, 10, who are former and current students of SJK (T) Chettiars in Ipoh, developed an AI-based temperature and humidity tracking system which won them a gold medal and a special award.

Sharvika is currently a Form One student at Ipoh Methodist Girls’ School.

Meanwhile, their five-year-old sister Mirtika won a silver medal in an environmental art competition with her drawing about cleanliness in Malaysian villages.

The girls’ proud father Vijayaraman said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had supported the young innovators’ participation in the competition.
