A further RM100mil approved for road maintenance in peninsula, says Ahmad Maslan

KLUANG: An additional RM100mil allocation has been approved for road maintenance works throughout Peninsular Malaysia, says Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

He said the allocation would involve periodic pavement and non-pavement works.

“Of the RM100mil, about RM21.6mil involving 54 projects is for states in the southern region namely, Johor, Melaka and Negri Sembilan.

“They include seven projects in Melaka involving RM7.64mil and eight in Negri Sembilan worth RM2.16mil, while Johor has 29 projects worth RM11.75mil,” he told a press conference here on Thursday (Aug 29).

He had earlier attended the drawing process for Public Works Department (JKR) Southern Region contractors.

Ahmad added that the allocation was approved by the Finance Ministry and Economy Ministry earlier this month.

On a separate matter, he said JKR has also provided expert advice on the sinkhole incident at Jalan Masjid India in Kuala Lumpur.

"The incident is under the jurisdiction of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) but JKR has also provided advice to the relevant departments," he said.
