Ex-PKR MP seen with gun at press conference, clarifies he has a licence

PETALING JAYA: Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid, a former PKR MP, has responded to concerns after a video surfaced showing him carrying a firearm during a recent press conference.

In a tweet responding to a question on X, Abdullah clarified his position, explaining that he has a firearms licence.

"As a licence holder since 2012 and a firearm owner, the weapon cannot be left just anywhere and must always be in my possession. Therefore, it's not just at the stadium; I carry it wherever I go," tweeted the former Kapar MP.

In the video, Abdullah Sani was at a press conference organised by the Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) in his capacity as acting president.

When he got up at the conclusion, a holstered pistol was seen on his hip after he moved his jacket to retrieve his handphone.

Abdullah Sani was MP for Kuala Langat for two terms from 2008 to 2018 before winning the Kapar parliamentary seat in the 2018 general election for Pakatan Harapan.

However, he failed to retain the seat in GE15 in 2022, losing to Dr Halimah Ali of PAS by 11,782 votes.

He is currently chairman of Tekun Nasional.
