Marketing manager claims trial to 26 charges of cheating involving RM6.2mil


KOTA KINABALU: A marketing manager pleaded not guilty to 26 charges of cheating amounting to RM6.2mil since last year.

Mok Chuang Leon, 31, was charged before Magistrate Don Stiwin Malanjum in Tawau on Thursday (Aug 29).

According to the facts of the case, he had duped a company clerk into handing over a total of RM6.2mil to him since 2023.

He was accused of presenting a false invoice for the sales of oil palm fruit for two companies between February 2023 and February 2024, at the Perdana Square Commercial Centre, Batu 3 ½, Jalan Apas, Tawau.

The court set Oct 8 and 10 for the re-mention of the cases, and allowed the suspect RM4,000 bail for each charge, with two local sureties and to report himself to the investigating officer once a month.

The case is being handled by prosecuting officer Asst Comm Jeffery Kadisun and the accused is represented by counsel Chen Wen Jye.

If convicted, the suspect can be jailed between one and 10 years with caning and a fine.
