Driver killed in fatal KK crash

KOTA KINABALU: A man was killed after losing control of his van in a crash near Bandar Sierra Telipok on Friday (Aug 30).

The victim, identified as 50-year-old Richard Linasin, reportedly lost control of his vehicle, causing it to overturn by the roadside at around 3.30pm.

A spokesman said a team of six firefighters from the Lintas Fire Station responded to the emergency call, arriving at the scene promptly.

“Firefighters used specialised tools to extricate the victim from the vehicle, but he was pronounced dead by health officials on the scene.

“The body has been handed over to the police for further investigation,” the spokesman said.

The operation was concluded at 5.30pm.
