MCA remains confident to regain Perlis victory in next GE, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong remains confident that it can regain victory in Perlis if the leadership team and every party member work together in returning the people’s support.

“In the northern part of the country now to attend the Perlis MCA state convention.

“Gauging the sentiments on the ground is no small challenge in order to gain support and translate it into votes during elections.

“However, I remain confident that Perlis MCA, which used to contest in two state assembly seats in past elections, can regain victory if the leadership team and every member from the state work together and focus all their efforts on regaining the support of the people,” said Dr Wee in a Facebook post on Friday (Aug 30).

In the 15th general election, MCA Perlis chairman Teh Chai Aan was renominated by Barisan Nasional to defend the Titi Tinggi state seat but lost to Perikatan Nasional candidate Izizam Ibrahim.

The party’s Indera Kayangan candidate was helmed by MCA for four terms until the party’s defeat to a PKR candidate during GE13.

Meanwhile, in a National Day message on Friday, Dr Wee called Malaysians to continue to show love to the country as it can become a source of strength for unity and togetherness.

“Never forget to be grateful for being born on this blessed land. The sacrifices and struggles of those before us should be an aspiration for us to lead Malaysia towards a better future.

“Let’s celebrate the Merdeka month in full spirit and pride.

“Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!” Dr Wee said.
