A COUPLE in Shenzhen, China, who are already blessed with two children, fell into financial difficulties after the wife gave birth to quadruplets this month, reported China Press.
To compound the situation, the babies were born premature and required a month-long stay in the intensive care unit.
While the condition of the newborns has improved, the couple now await a hefty 200,000 yuan (RM122,000) bill for the hospital stay.
Even though social security will cover 80% of the cost at a later date, the duo will still be unable to foot such a large sum under a short notice.
The sympathetic hospital has provided financial relief and urged them to apply for social aid.
Chen and his wife Li currently earn a combined 10,000 yuan (around RM6,100) a month.
However, Chen said his wife will now have to resign from work to look after their six children.
“I’m just a salaried man. If the cost of childcare continues to rise, it will be difficult for our family.
“I am out of ideas and the stress is overbearing. I hope society can provide us with some help.”
> Chinese actress Jia Ling, who lost 50kg starring in the sports drama Yolo, caused a stir online after appearing to have regained some of her weight, reported Sin Chew Daily.
Netizens made fun of the 42-year-old for failing to maintain her hard-earned figure.
However, a fan defended her, saying: “Why are you so fixated on her weight? She does not need to stay slim to make money!”
