Girl killed, parents and brother injured after car crashes into tree in Johor

KLUANG: A 14-year-old girl was killed while her parents and younger brother were injured after their car crashed into a tree here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the accident along Jalan Persiaran Seri Impian happened during a heavy downpour at around 1.40pm on Saturday (Aug 31).

“They were heading towards Taman Seri Impian from Kluang when the driver lost control of the vehicle due to heavy rain.

“The car skidded to the middle of the slippery road before hitting a tree that was at the road divider,” he said in a statement here.

He said the secondary school student died at the scene after succumbing to serious injuries on her head and body.

“Her parents and eight-year-old brother, who were in the same car, also suffered some injuries and are being treated at the Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Kluang,” he said.

He said that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
