Cyclist dies after being hit by car in Johor Baru


JOHOR BARU: A 36-year-old foreign man was killed after being run over by a car while riding a bicycle at KM5.3 Jalan Pantai heading towards the city centre.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the incident occurred at 11.35pm on Saturday (Aug 31).

"The victim was riding his bicycle on the left side of the road before suddenly changing lanes to the right.

"A car, driven by a 29-year-old man, failed to evade the victim and hit him on the left side.

"The impact caused the victim to suffer a serious head injury," he said in a statement on Sunday (Sept 1).

ACP Raub added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
