Hardcore criminal shot dead in Rawang


HULU SELANGOR: A 36-year-old man with a record of multiple criminal offences was killed following a shootout with the police in Bukit Beruntung, Rawang.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the man refused to heed instructions from the police to stop his vehicle at about 9.30pm on Friday.

“The suspect fired shots at the police personnel, forcing them to return fire.

“He was killed at the scene,” Comm Hussein said in a statement yesterday.

He added that the suspect had 16 prior offences.

The police are investigating the case under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and Section 8 of the Firearms Act.
