PETALING JAYA: The unity of Malaysians among different races is the most crucial aspect of the nation’s prosperity, says His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

His Majesty said the people’s unity is also the most meaningful gift for him as King.

“The most meaningful gift for me is the unity among different races because it is the key to the nation’s prosperity,” His Majesty said in his National Day 2024 message on his Facebook page.

Sultan Ibrahim’s message was wholeheartedly welcomed by the people, who wrote on the comments section praying for everlasting unity among Malaysians.

Jaya Kumaran wrote: “We pray that harmony is preserved, happiness is maintained and blessings are sought for our beloved land of Malaysia.

“We also pray that the bond between different races is strong and secure, and all forms of extreme ignorance are eradicated for a peaceful and prosperous Malaysia, blessed by Him always.”

Meanwhile, Britain’s King Charles III extended his heartfelt congratulations to Malaysia on this auspicious day.

In a message posted on the British High Commission to Malaysia’s social media platform, King Charles III conveyed warm wishes to Malaysians on behalf of himself and his wife Queen Camilla.

“On the special occasion of your National Day, my wife and I would like to convey our warmest congratulations to Your Majesty and the people of Malaysia.

“I cherish the close bond shared between our nations and I am confident that our ties will continue to flourish in this very special anniversary year – a fitting reminder of the enduring values and aspirations that unite us,” King Charles III said, Bernama reported.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim shared his happiness in witnessing the outstanding participation of Malaysians in this year’s National Day celebrations in Putrajaya.

He expressed his gratitude to Malaysians of various races who waited from early morning to celebrate the 67th National Day.

“I am proud to see the enthusiastic and energetic participation from the security forces, enforcement bodies, government agencies, private companies and students in this independence parade,” he posted on Facebook.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said achieving independence is not easy and that Malaysians must defend it.

“The theme, ‘Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdeka’, calls for Malaysians to reinforce unity and uphold our identity as a sovereign nation,” he said.
