GRS starts building unity at the local level before the state election

KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has begun its groundwork in preparation for the state election due anytime within the next 12 months.

The eight-party local coalition is seen building up solidarity among its grassroots at the state constituency level as part of the preparation for the elections due by Sept next year.

GRS information chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said that all parties need to work in solidarity as they gear up for the next state election.

Speaking at the Kiulu GRS gathering in Tuaran, Bangkuai said that a strong united front among Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat), Sabah STAR, and Kiulu PBS will be crucial for the coalition’s success in the constituency.

“Our victory in Kiulu will be a victory for GRS, ensuring the continuation of the good work under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor," said Bangkuai, who is PBS Kiulu assemblyman.

"We must embody the spirit of solidarity within GRS, as it is the bedrock of our strength in Kiulu. We must ensure that PBS, STAR, and PGRS move forward together in unity.

“We need to stay on the same path and handle differences in opinion with maturity and wisdom," said Bangkuai, who is PBS information chief.

Bangkuai, who is also the PBS Kiulu division chief, said that every component party of GRS in Kiulu must manage disagreement effectively and ensure that no issues disrupt the coalition’s unity at the constituency level.

He also urged GRS members in Kiulu to remain united and not be swayed by the opposition’s political tactics designed to weaken the coalition.

Chief Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Datuk Abdul Kassim Razali, Gagasan Rakyat Kiulu division chief Janih Bangud; and Sabah STAR Kiulu division chief Terence Sinti were among those present at the solidarity gathering.

Sinti reaffirmed Sabah STAR's full support for GRS in Kiulu, pledging to contribute to the coalition's victory.

"We must demonstrate that GRS stands strong in Kiulu and continues to support the coalition’s leadership of the state government," he said.

Jasnih said that the GRS Solidarity gathering must continue to reinforce unity and ensure the spirit of solidarity in Kiulu remains strong.
