Joe Chen to host wedding event in Langkawi

TAIWANESE actress Joe Chen and her Malaysian artist husband Alan Chen will hold a small-scale wedding reception at a five-star hotel in Langkawi later this month, reported China Press.

Joe’s manager confirmed the couple’s plans.

“Joe thanks everyone who cares for them. Langkawi means a lot to them because it’s the place where their romance first blossomed.

“The theme will be a warm island wedding and they will only invite very close friends and relatives. We will share more news of their happy moments when it approaches,” the manager said.

Celebrities who are expected to attend the wedding include An Yi-Xuan and Kimi Hsia, who are some of Joe’s closest friends.

Joe, 45, met Alan in the Chinese dating reality show Meeting Mr Right II in 2019, and the Langkawi Sky Bridge in Kedah was the spot where Alan first asked the actress to be his girlfriend on the dating show.

In February this year, the couple returned to the very spot during their holiday in Malaysia, sharing photos on their social media accounts.

Joe captioned her post at that time: “In 2019, we said that if we were still together after a year, we would return to the Sky Bridge to celebrate.”

The couple dated for about two-and-a-half years before registering their marriage in Taipei City in March 2022.

> Sin Chew Daily reported that Malaysian Mandopop star Firdhaus Farmizi has finally completed his first large-scale two-show concert in Malaysia after turning professional five years ago.

The 25-year-old told his fans that he was truly blessed to see the sold-out Hello Again 2024 concert tour, which saw an estimated 5,000 spectators in the first show on Aug 31 at the Arena of Stars in Genting Highlands.

When Firdhaus belted out his 2020 ballad hit Gulf of Alaska, the arena erupted with screams and many fans were seen weeping.

On that particular song which became a hit in China, chalking up over 840 million views at press time on Douyin, Firdhaus said: “Many people ask me whether I will ever get bored of singing this song so many times.”

“My reply is never because I would never be here if not for this song.”

The crowd also went wild and sang along when Firdhaus’ other hit Divorce in Ghana was performed.

The track, which he originally sung with his local artiste girlfriend Diorlying, clocked over 22 million views on YouTube and topped the Douyin Hot Songs chart with over a million likes on the platform.

The Hello Again 2024 concert is part of the Firdhaus Asia Tour.
