Sanusi 'admits' to polygamy during viral speech on REE

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor may have "admitted" to marrying a second time.

The Kedah Mentri Besar made the "admission" during his speech on rare earth element (REE) mining in the state during the 4th state government summit (SG4) in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor, on Monday (Sept 2).

"I was almost caught, but thankfully, I managed to 'catch' the person who wanted to catch me," he said, according to Majoriti.

The speech, which was live-streamed on social media, quickly went viral.

While laughing, he asked the audience if they understood the meaning behind his words.

Sanusi's marital status has once again become a trending topic on social media following allegations that he has remarried a police officer previously involved in an REE investigation.

Photos purportedly of Sanusi's second wife have also been circulating online.

Linked to such rumours around April of last year, the Jeneri assemblyman had emphatically denied having entered into polygamy.

"Still one only," he had jokingly remarked, glancing at his wife, Tok Puan Jusmalailani Jusoh, at the time.
