A CHINESE national’s search for love in Malaysia ended badly after realising he had been duped, China Press reported.
Yang Zhengbing, 51, borrowed money from his mother so that he could travel from Chongqing to Labis, Johor, to meet his 28-year-old “girlfriend”, known as “Qiqi”.
However, his online belle – with whom he purportedly had a relationship for the past year – was nowhere to be found when he arrived at the town, located 150km north of Johor Baru, on Aug 21. “Qiqi” had also blocked him on WeChat upon realising that he was in Labis.
Yang showed locals footage of their video chats in a last-ditch effort to find his “girlfriend”.
They then pointed him to a house belonging to a family whose surname was Zhang.
However, the family claimed that their photos had been misused by the impersonator known as “Qiqi”.
A disappointed Yang told reporters on Monday that he would be flying back to China and would move forward.
However, he said he fell in love with Labis and would return one day to set up a restaurant.
> Teenage diving prodigy Quan Hongchan burst into tears and sought refuge in a toilet after being mobbed by over-enthusiastic fans in Macau recently, Sin Chew Daily reported.
The 17-year-old Olympic gold medallist from China was filmed exiting the Galaxy Hotel when fans waiting outside swarmed around her asking for selfies.
Startled, Quan ran back into the hotel and hid in a washroom.
However, fans were relentless in their pursuit of the national darling, with some male fans even running into the toilet just to catch a glimpse of Quan.
She was unable to leave the toilet until a group of security guards intervened.
