Cops seize nearly RM430,000 worth of cocaine in Nilai

NILAI: Police have detained a foreigner and seized 2.2kg of cocaine worth almost RM430,000 during an operation at Bandar Baru Putra Nilai near here.

District police chief Supt Abdul Malik Hasim said a Bukit Aman team nabbed the suspect at the parking lot of an apartment block around 4.30pm on Tuesday (Sept 3).

"The police team was carrying out an operation in the area when they saw a car with two foreigners inside at the parking lot.

"Realising police presence, one of the occupants dashed out and escaped," he said in a statement.

Supt Abdul Malik said the team managed to detain the other suspect and upon inspecting the car, found the drugs in a package.

"In the process of detaining the sole suspect, police had to fire two shots in self defence," he said without elaborating.

The car used by the duo was also seized.

Supt Abdul Malik said police obtained a court order to remand the suspect for seven days earlier Wednesday (Sept 4).

The case, he said, is being probed under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.

Those with information on the case are urged to contact the district police station at 06 790 4222.
