KUALA LUMPUR: The probe into the case involving a group of people caught during a raid on a swingers sex syndicate in Mont Kiara has been completed.
The syndicate organising group sex reportedly had more than 140,000 subscribing clients.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the investigation paper (IP) involving those detained – 18 men and 16 women – had since been submitted to the deputy public prosecutor.
“We submitted the IP on Aug 29. We will wait for the decision by the DPP on the next step,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Two other men detained, believed to be the ring leaders, were still under investigation, he said.
“While we cannot ascertain how many of such syndicates are operating, we are always conducting intelligence gathering to track down syndicates promoting such immoral activities.
“We will monitor the situation closely with various agencies, including Jakim, to curb the illegal activities,” he said.
Comm Rusdi said the police were also working closely with the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to shut down websites and web applications that are against the law.
It was reported that a swingers syndicate, which organised group sex for its 147,000 subscribers or “clients”, was busted with the arrest of 36 people.
It is learnt that the syndicate, which operated online, offered subscribers a chance to swap partners as well as take part in group sex in condominiums around the Klang Valley.
Each customer was charged RM388 to become a subscriber.
The syndicate, led by a Singaporean and a Malaysian, was believed to have been operating since early this year.
After surveillance and intelligence gathering in June, the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID), along with other agencies including the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission, raided a condominium in Mont Kiara at about 8.30pm on Aug 25.
Bukit Aman CID deputy director Deputy Comm Fadil Marsus had said 34 people were detained in the first raid.
“Those detained included university students, civil servants, a French citizen, a Chinese national, a Nigerian, as well as individuals from the Czech Republic and the Philippines.
“The youngest person nabbed was a 19-year-old woman,” he said.
DCP Fadil said that further investigation led police to a condominium in Puchong, where the Singaporean and Malaysian ringleaders were found.
