DOCTORS in Bangladesh have gone on a strike after a physician was attacked by a patient’s family, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The problem began when a college student, who was seriously injured in an accident, died in a Dhaka hospital despite doctors’ efforts. Blaming the doctors for the death, his family attacked them.

Infuriated medical officers called for an immediate nationwide strike, which was also supported by associations representing nurses.

The doctors are demanding that the attackers be arrested and for more protection to be put in place for hospital staff.

> About 50 students and 18 teachers from Taiping took part in a hill-climbing and tree-planting event to mark the 67th National Day, Malaysia Nanban also reported.

They planted 17 hibiscus trees at the Maxwell Hill area as homage to the national flower.
