KOTA KINABALU: There will be no replacement public holiday to compensate for the dual celebrations of Malaysia Day and Maulidur Rasul (Prophet Muhammad’s birthday).
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor announced that the decision was made during the Sabah Cabinet’s weekly meeting on Wednesday (Sept 4).
“This year, Malaysia Day, a public holiday, coincides with Maulidur Rasul, which is also a public holiday, on Sept 16.
“However, the State Cabinet has decided that there will be no replacement holiday for the following day (Sept 17) for the public sector,” Hajiji said in a statement.
He added that private-sector employers would decide whether to grant their employees a holiday on September 17.
