Anwar congratulates Bonnie for winning gold, setting new world record


PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim congratulated national powerlifting star Bonnie Bunyau Gustin for retaining his gold medal in the men's 72kg category at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

Bonnie oozed class as he smashed his own world record in the men's 72kg category en route to giving Malaysia their second Paralympics gold medal at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena in Paris.

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Anwar said Malaysia had won its second gold medal and expressed pride that Bonnie had set a new world record while doing it.

"We have won our second gold medal at the #Paralympic2024, and even more impressively, Bonnie Bunyau has broken the world record!

"Congratulations! Your achievement is extraordinary!" Anwar said in his post.
